This policy explains how NST Bihar ("we", "us"), the Hindi news website at nstbihar.in, handles information. By using the website you accept this policy.

1. Information we collect

You can read NST Bihar without creating an account or giving us your name. We collect only:

• Usage data — pages visited, time spent, approximate location (city level), device, browser and referring site, collected through Google Analytics using cookies.
• Notification token — only if you choose to allow browser notifications; it lets us send news alerts through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn notifications off in your browser at any time.
• What you send us — if you email us, we receive your email address and message.

2. How we use it

• To run, secure and improve the website and understand which news readers find useful.
• To send news notifications you asked for.
• To reply to your messages.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

3. Cookies

We use cookies for analytics and to remember preferences such as dark mode. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website still works without them. Google's use of analytics data is described at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

4. Third-party services

Pages may include content or links from Google Analytics, Google Firebase, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X (Twitter), for example embedded videos or posts. These services may set their own cookies and are governed by their own privacy policies. Advertisements shown on the site are placed by NST Bihar; clicking one takes you to the advertiser's site, which has its own policy.

5. Our newsroom's use of YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

NST Bihar's internal newsroom system (CMS), used only by NST Bihar staff, can connect to NST Bihar's own YouTube channel, Facebook Page and Instagram accounts so that staff can upload the videos, titles and captions they create. This connection is made only by an authorised NST Bihar staff member who signs in and approves it.

• What we access: the connected channel, Page or account's ID, name, username and profile picture, and permission to upload videos and posts to it. We do not access, read or store viewers' or followers' personal data.
• How we use it: only to publish NST Bihar's own videos and to show the result (link and status) to our staff. It is not used for advertising, profiling or any other purpose, and it is not sold or shared.
• How it is stored: access tokens are kept encrypted on our server and are deleted when staff disconnect the account in the CMS.
• Revoking access: the account owner can remove access at any time from Google Account permissions or Facebook / Instagram settings (Apps and websites).

Our use of YouTube is through the YouTube API Services. By using YouTube features you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. NST Bihar's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Data retention and security

Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics retention settings. Emails are kept only as long as needed to respond. We use reasonable technical measures, including HTTPS and encryption of stored access tokens, to protect information; no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Children

The website is a general news service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your choices

You may block cookies, turn off notifications, or ask us to delete information you sent us by writing to the email below. Complaints can also be made under our Grievance Redressal process.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
